PRINCIPAL SPONSOR ANNOUNCED FOR DUO OF IMarEST LEARNED SOCIETY EVENTS – INEC AND iSCSS 2018
L3 MAPPS is to be the Principal Sponsor of the 14th International Naval Engineering Conference and Exhibition (INEC 2018); which incorporates the long-established International Ship Control Systems Symposium (iSCSS 2018); both are being held in Glasgow from Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 October 2018.Both Learned Society events are being organised by FIGS Events on behalf of the IMarEST (Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology). The Call for Papers for INEC, with its theme ‘Inspiring Naval Engineering’, and iSCSS, themed ‘Revolutionary Technology Inspiring Ship Control’, have attracted a high volume of synopses from navies, industry and academia in over 15 countries worldwide.
“We are delighted to welcome L3 MAPPS aboard as Principal Sponsor,” says Conference Chairman Capt Matt Bolton RN, Ministry of Defence, UK. “Senior members of the L3 MAPPS management team have long been regular attendees at INEC and other IMarEST Learned Society events. It is splendid to see them taking this important principal sponsorship role, which, given their control systems pedigree, is particularly significant as we re-launch iSCSS alongside INEC 2018.”
L3 MAPPS is a leading global supplier of control and simulation solutions for the naval sector as well as for other sectors including power generation and space, and the synergy between their interests and those of our duo of events is obvious. Headquartered in Montréal, Canada, they mirror INEC and iSCSS’s global reach for they have operating units in North America, the United Kingdom, and Asia. We look forward to working alongside them to ensure their sponsorship meets their aims and objectives.
“Control lies at the heart of iSCSS, and has done throughout its 50-year history,” explains Lt Cdr Rinze Geertsma RNLN (Royal Netherlands Navy), Chairman of the iSCSS Technical Advisory sub-Committee. “At this year’s event we aim to inspire researchers, engineers, seafarers and others involved in future ship control, indeed iSCSS represents an opportunity to influence future control strategies, so is a very natural home for L3 MAPPS.”
“We are pleased to have this opportunity to demonstrate our support for the iSCSS and INEC and showcase our innovation and leadership at these IMarEST Learned Society events,” says Rangesh Kasturi, President of L3 MAPPS. “We are a world leader in providing automation and control systems as well as turnkey training solutions for the naval market and cruise ship safety management systems. L3 MAPPS pioneered the development and evolution of modern Integrated Platform Management Systems (IPMS), which are comprehensive warship control systems.”
“We look forward to supporting the success of these important events and working with the Committees and the organisers in the coming months, and to meeting the authors and delegates in Glasgow in October.”
